What is Nutritional Therapy?

Nutritional Therapy is a bio-individual approach to nutrition that utilizes evaluative methods to determine where you need a boost in nutrition. Since there is no one like you, this approach is tailored to you! A Nutritional Therapy Practitioner uses these methods to provide recommendations based on your specific needs.

Nutritional Assessment Questionnaire and Food and Mood Journal

The first step in getting to know your specific needs is gathering information about your current health and fitness, your health and fitness goals, family history and lifestyle habits. A Nutritional Assessment Questionnaire (NAQ) is completed and a 3 day Food and Mood Journal is reviewed by Christine Cernera, your Nutritional Therapy Practitioner. This provides invaluable information for your practitioner to make recommendations based on your individual needs.

Functional Evaluation

A functional evaluation is performed by your Nutritional Therapy Practitioner to gather even more information about the needs of your body. It is a series of touch points an palpations that are used to determine which of your body systems may need extra nutritional help. As the functional evaluation is performed you will be asked to provide a tenderness rating from 0-10 (0 being no tenderness and 10 being extremely tender). This evaluation is non-invasive and done while you are fully clothed.
